In July 2024, we moved out of our beloved warehouse space after fourteen years. For nearly two years, we practiced outdoors in public parks, rented any indoor space we could find, and cancelled much of our programming for new skaters. In December 2025, we signed a lease. We are thrilled to be moving forward with a space where we can host games, scrimmages, workout classes, workshops, and fundraisers. We're excited to bring back our programs to teach people how to roller skate and bring derby back to Oakland.
We’re raising money to make the space ready for the public to watch and experience roller derby, as well as bring in community members and other organizations into the space. The funds are needed for our permits from the City of Oakland, accessibility and safety upgrades, and the installation of our bar, merch stand, locker rooms, and audience seating.
In a time when many of our rights are under attack, BAD remains fiercely committed to being a community space for members of the Bay Area.
