BADDIES
Know how to skate safely but want to develop your skating skills for roller derby? You can do our Baddies Program. Please fill out our Learn To Skate intake form.
HOW IT WORKS
Bay Area Derby has multiple entry points for people at all skill and experience levels. In our beginner entry program, Learn to Skate, new skaters will learn the elemental skills in beginning their roller derby journey. Learn to Skate graduates are then welcomed into the second entryway: Baddies. Baddies is our intermediate entry program, in which experienced skaters are taught the fundamentals of the sport and how to play on an increased competitive level. Once accepted into the Baddies program, skaters begin their probationary membership phase in which they are assessed not only on skating skills, but on attitude, enthusiasm, and camaraderie. Graduates from the Baddies program become full league members, in which they will be eligible for home team draft, able to attend All League practices, and continue to grow as players.
Bay Area Derby is open to all, regardless of gender and experience, who want to be a part of the league and roller derby. To play in games, all people of Marginalized Gender (defined by the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association as women, transgender people, intersex people, and culturally-specific genders such as two-spirit people) may participate. Cisgender men may participate in Learn to Skate and Baddies as well as to officiate.
