All-Stars Boot Camp on the Bay
August 27, 2016 @ 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM$35
Train with the BAD All-Stars on Saturday August 27! Our travel team is hosting a morning roller derby boot camp for mixed level skaters at our beautiful bouting venue on the waterfront – the Craneway Pavilion. This boot camp will be broken into two groups, Stars for Beginner/Intermediate level skaters, and Gold for Intermediate/Advanced skaters. Stars and Gold will both have 2 hours of training on skates plus 1.5 hours of classroom-style seminars.
Unlimited spectator passes are also available for people to take notes on drills and strategies off skates.
Roller derby on skates training will include a variety of components, including defense, jammer skills, offense, and scenarios. BAD All-Stars will lead classroom seminars such as…
“Skate Maintenance 101”
“Planning Your Team Training”
“Injury Got You Down? How to Cope When You Can’t Skate it Off”
“Footage Review: Breaking it Down One Jam at a Time”
While Stars (Beginner/Intermediate) are on the track getting their roller derby skater training, Gold (Intermediate/Advanced) will be participating in classroom seminars, and then the two groups will switch after a 30-minute break.

Available as an early-bird special until July 15, select the “Pack is Here” group ticket. Essentially, you’re buying 3 skater passes at a $35 rate per person and getting 1 for free!
This boot camp is intended for skaters who are 18 and older, have passed WFTDA minimum skills, and already have some roller derby experience playing in scrimmages and/or games. If you’re a new skater interested in roller derby we encourage you to check out our Reckless Rollers program.
Skater participants are encouraged to assess their own skill level. BAD All-Stars recommend using the following guidelines:
- Beginner: You have passed WFTDA minimum skills, have skated in some scrimmages and/or games, still have a lot to learn on and off the track but are excited for new challenges.
- Intermediate: You have passed WFTDA minimum skills, can confidently skate and scrimmage, may be on your league’s B-team but are looking to progress to the next level.
- Advanced: You have passed WFTDA minimum skills, can skate confidently forwards and backwards and are on your league’s A-team.
All skaters must provide proof of WFTDA, USARS, or equivalent insurance coverage and sign an event waiver.
